If you stand in front of our hotel, you can see him: The Michaelsberg. Up there, the historic Michaelsberg Abbey is enthroned, an impressive heritage of times gone by.
But not only the abbey, but also the world-famous Siegburg stoneware once attracted people to the town. This exquisite ceramic ware enjoys Europe-wide fame until today and has contributed to Siegburg’s international fame.
The production of Siegburg stoneware originated in the picturesque Aulgasse, just a relaxing 30-minute walk from our hotel.

A beggar named Benedikt
On Annonis day, says the custom, every indigent person of Siegburg has the right to get a slim, cylindrical mug from one of the local potters – a so-called Ulner. He gets this mug filled with Annonis beer on top of the Michaelsberg, but only so full that he can still hold it with an outstretched arm.
On this day we also meet our beggar Benedict on the Michaelsberg, who after a deep sip of beer looks over the city – his city.
He always bestows a blessing on the people who gave him his name, Benedict – the Blesser, when they are generous and give him a donation.
Today, almost half a millennium later, our Siegburg hotel bears the name Benedikt. There is a good reason for this:

Ever since 2017, you have been able to check in and check out contactlessly with your smartphone in our hotels. Doing so, you can conveniently open your room and all doors in the hotel using the app. We have also adjusted to the new situation: Your bed linen is cleaned to the highest hygienic standards, we limit room cleaning to the day of your arrival and of course we disinfect all surfaces several times a day.
During your stay you get in contact with as few other people as possible. We are still available for you around the clock.
